Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
VoteMyVoice is a nonpartisan civic information app that helps Texas voters see the races and candidates on their ballot, key election dates, and where to vote. It is not an official government service. Contact us at privacy@votemyvoice.app.
2. What we collect
Guest mode (no account)
If you tap Skip and use the app as a guest, the address you enter, and the county and voting districts we work out from it, plus any quiz answers, are kept only on your device. The next time you open the app we ask whether to save them to a new account or discard them. If you discard them, they are deleted from your device. Nothing from guest mode is stored on our servers.
If you create an account

On your device
Your sign-in session is kept in your device's secure storage. Guest data and some app preferences are kept in the app's local storage. This stays on your phone unless you save it to an account.
Technical data
Like any online service, our hosting and database provider (Supabase) receives standard request information such as your IP address, device type and app version when the app talks to our servers, and keeps infrastructure logs for security and troubleshooting. We do not run analytics or advertising software in the app and we do not track you across other apps or websites. If you choose to share analytics or crash data with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may give us aggregated, anonymous reports.
Location
The app does not ask for or use your device's GPS location. You type your address.
Messages you send us
If you email us (for example feedback or a deletion request) we keep the message and your email address so we can reply.
3. How we use information
- To work out your ballot, districts, polling places, and early voting locations.
- To provide your account, profile, and quiz results.
- To keep the service secure, fix bugs, and respond to you.
- To comply with the law when required.
We do not use your information for advertising, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or "share" it as those terms are used in privacy laws.
4. Who receives your information

Candidate, campaign finance, election date and news information shown in the app comes from public sources (such as the FEC, the Texas Ethics Commission and the GDELT news index). We load that public information on our side; none of your personal information is sent to those sources. Links to candidate websites, news articles and government sites take you outside the app.
We may disclose information if required by a valid legal request, to protect our users and the service, or as part of a business transfer, and only to the extent necessary.
5. How long we keep it
- Guest data: on your device until you save it to an account, discard it, or delete the app.
- Account data: until you delete your account.
- Deleting your account: Settings → Delete account permanently removes your profile (including address, date of birth and phone), your quiz results, and your sign-in. Backups held by our hosting provider may keep a copy for a limited time until they expire.
- Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
6. Your choices and rights
- Use the app as a guest without giving us anything.
- Update your profile information in the app.
- Delete your account and data yourself from Settings.
- Email privacy@votemyvoice.app to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We will respond within 45 days.
Residents of California, Texas and other states with consumer privacy laws may have additional rights, including to know, access, correct, and delete personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for advertising. We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Account data is stored in a managed database with access controls that limit each signed-in user to their own records. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn that your personal information has been compromised, we will notify you as required by law, including by email.
8. Children
VoteMyVoice is intended for people who are 18 or older, or who are 17 and will be 18 by the next election (as Texas allows for registration). It is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
